I have a werewolf for a pet, a Witch of a best friend, and have no need for anyone else in my life.

But when a salvage starts to spin out of control, help comes from a most unexpected direction.
One that is dangerously dark, brooding, and doesn’t know a thing about the supernatural.

EXCERPT

Mary surprised Joe by knocking his arms away. She was stronger than she looked. Then she swept her legs off the bed and sprang to her feet. She took two steps and turned to face him as if to prove there was nothing wrong with her. But there was definitely something wrong.

She wavered a moment. Her already white face turned ghostly. Her eyelids trembled. She seemed to realize she was becoming faint, and what that meant.

“I’m fine,” she said. “You don’t have to go.”

Joe got ready to catch her in case she fell, but somehow she held herself steady.

“It’s okay,” Joe said. “Just sit down. I will go find some food.”

Joe inched toward her. He was afraid to grab her again because she might try to wrench free once more and really fall. When she coughed, her little shoulders jerked and her round stomach jumped. Her head was drooped low and her hair hung down so he couldn’t see her face at all.

“Come on, lay down,” Joe said.

She didn’t move. Joe stepped toward her, but before he could put his arms around her, she tilted forward and rested the crown of her head against his chest. He slid his arms along the sides of her hard belly and around her waist. Then he shifted her toward the bed again. She moved like a bundle of empty sacks in his arms. He set her gently on the bed before he bent down to lift her feet onto the sheets.

After he sat in the chair, Mary asked him, “What if you don’t come back?”

“That’s not going to happen,” Joe said.

“How do you know?”

“I just know. You have to trust me.”

Cover Love! My favorite covers and artists! + Giveaway!!

There is absolutely that a good cover sells a book. I am one of many book lovers who will readily admit that sometimes I choose a book because it has an amazing cover!
So what makes a good book cover, well I think it depends on the reader. Book covers are art, and art is in the eye of the beholder. My favorite example of a cover that drew me in, but didn't do it for a lot of other readers is Ilsa J. Blicks original ASHES cover. I also have found that I like certain designers and their styles and will automatically gravitate their work. It's like they "get me" as a reader in terms of their design work.

This is the original hardcover. It instantly drew me in because it is dark, and gritty. And let's face it, I'm a dark and gritty kind of girl.
The white eyes of the woman makes me think zombie. I think the lines are supposed to represent the EMP? But you wouldn't know that unless you picked it up. But unfortunately, this book would blend into the background much easier than a colorful book. Initially it's a good cover, because ASHES is not a light hearted book.

GOODREADS

Cover number 2 was unleashed when the book came out in paperback and matches the rest of the trilogy. So yes, I will own it someday. Because my covers have to match. I am strange like that.

This cover will draw a lot more readers too it. Why, simply because the color POPS at the viewer browsing the shelf. The sideways text forces the potential to take a closer look at it.

The black background also tells me that this is a dark book. The smoke implies something bad happening, and the girl standing alone in the woods signifies that it's more than likely a YA book.

Synopsis from Goodreads

"I wonder what she'd see in my future. If it would be the same thing I see. I wonder if it would scare her, too."

So this happens to be the second book in the series, and I haven't had the chance to read the first one yet. I don't usually like to jump ahead in a series, but I was assured it could stand alone, so I gave it a shot. I have to admit, if this book were by any other author, I might have passed it by. There are too many contemporary romances to possibly have a chance to read them all. BUT this book isn't by any other author. It's by Leigh T. Moore! <3

#Giveway Just because I can! Signed Copy of Contagious by Emily Goodwin

Blurb: "I wasn’t afraid of death. If I died, it would be over. My worst fear wasn’t of dying, it was of living. It terrified me, right down to my very core, to be alive while the rest of the world was dead."

Synopsis from Goodreads

I'm not going to touch another book for a week. Reading another book right now would taint it, as it would be completely incapable of comparing to this. And then it would spoil the feeling I have lingering over my skin, the way I'm looking at the world in just a slightly different shade of light. This book has changed me, at least for one day. Maybe when I go to sleep, I'll wake up and forget. But I hope not.
